Professionally, Bell worked extensively with Citi Bank, both for the Head of the U.S. Ultra High Net Worth Group and as an investment analyst?before leaving Citi to focus on YoBucko. He?s also heavily involved in the non-profit and financial education communities, as President of the Greater Washington Jump$tart Coalition and a board member at Microfinance Opportunities. On top of all that?and, boy, that would be plenty?he?s found time to post a plethora of witty, insightful, and informative articles on a wide array of personal finance matters. Guys like Eric make the rest of us look lazy.
I?ve been struck recently by a trait relatively common among personal finance bloggers, that being an experience with tough times, frequently brought on by ill-advised money choices. I don?t know for certain, but with the impressive bio, I don?t get the impression Mr. Bell has made an uncalculated financial decision in his life, and if he has, these occasions must be very few and far between. Life?s anguishing experiences may well be the most emphatic teacher, but there?s something to be said for breaking full-speed out of the gate, too.
